Sunda Press is owned and run by two friends, Wong Shu Yun and Low Jat Leng. There’s nothing we like more than writing stories about people, ideas and Southeast Asia. We founded Sunda Press in 2014 to do that, and named ourselves after the Sunda tectonic plate, where most of Southeast Asia is on.
We write for print, digital and exhibitions. We are book producers who offer a full range of editorial and publishing services. And we are a niche publisher of nonfiction too.
Our philosophy is simple: immersion. We go to great lengths to know everything about our clients, subjects and subject matter. We have a knack for research and interviews. We like to get to those hidden insights that help us connect the dots in our stories.
Who We Are
Low Jat Leng writes about people, places and food often as ways to explore history and culture, especially Southeast Asia’s. She holds a Master’s degree in Southeast Asian Studies.
Wong Shu Yun was drawn to Asia when she began managing and writing for regional projects. Her work has appeared in The Straits Times and The Kathmandu Post, and has been anthologised in Balik Kampung, Passages and Epigram Books' Best New Singaporean Short Stories: Volume Two.
